I bought these boots for our new pup who needs protection from the freezing temperatures of Northern Wisconsin, but he's growing up too fast for expensive boots to make sense. However, they may be suitable for people who walk their dog in light rain or snow in temperatures above freezing when there is no ice or hard snow. My pup had no traction at all so he could barely walk on our crowded snowy street. And in a matter of seconds, the waterproof coating froze, turning the boots into skates. My pup is good at a lot of things, but skating isn't one of them :-( Also, there are no velcro straps attached, which I don't think would be that much of a problem. It turns out that there's a big difference. One of the socks came off and the tape slipped off and is now lost in 30 inches of snow because it went off track so I probably won't find it until spring.
