Review on Speaker Grill Cloth Fabric Repair by Scott Tompkins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good product! at speaker parts and components

I bought this speaker grille cloth to make my ugly speakers a little less ugly. I'm working on bringing new life to my father's old McIntosh system from the late 70's. Loudspeakers have seen better days. After reworking the woofers, I decided to focus on the grill covers. Actually the first step was to convince the woman to let her in the house lol. The first photo shows what they looked like when new. The ML-2M (M for Mediterranean housing design) had a green curtain behind the grill covers. Mine had deteriorated over the years so I decided to try a black grill cloth. I sealed the back of the grille leaving room for the 3M glue to spray. This material dries faster than I expected. You have to work fast. My wife helped me slide the fabric down my back over the glue splattered area. We then trimmed the edges to remove the excess. The order had enough fabric to cover all 4 speaker grilles. Pretty easy project and I didn't have to spend a lot of money. The grill lid has been hanging for a few weeks now and still looks good. So yes, it's still an outdated and somewhat ugly speaker box compared to today's hardware. However, the mesh fabric makes it a bit cleaner and tidier, keeping the speakers free of dust and pet hair. Although the system is 40 years old, McIntosh still sounds great and I enjoy the nostalgia of hearing my father's system that filled our house with music growing up. I would buy this grill cover product again!

Pros
