I have an XM walkie talkie that came with standard, car and home antennas. I had reception problems in my cabin and in my new home in Mesa Az. Using an amplifier solved the problem. BUT! IT uses RG-6 connections. So you need to buy 2 RG-6 cables (length depends on your setup) and adapters so you can connect the amplifier between your existing antenna and your radio. Which costs me an additional $19. This solved the problem, but note that the total cost including the amp, RG-6, and adapter is about $41. But no problem if that solves the problem.
