I bought this for two reasons: 1. I have twins who won't stop playing with cat water, cat food and cat litter. Now the cats can go in and out of the laundry whenever they want and I can leave the door closed. 2. I have a cat who is afraid of new things, the door leaf would be a problem for her, but this model has no door leaf. Installation: My father came and installed it, he used a jigsaw. and he said it was easy. A haircut template was included in the package. Experience so far: It took some convincing, but the cats took to it on day one. It's so damn cute to look at, I didn't mind punching a hole in my door. My fat cat (18 lbs) goes through with no problem.
