The installation process was fine overall, but I ended up looking for the process on a popular video streaming site. Also, I originally installed it in my JDM040 DS4 remote but it didn't work. I thought maybe I did something wrong or my remote is having communication issues. I removed it and installed it on another of my remotes which was a JDM055 DS4 remote and it worked. If you only want to program the buttons (so not L3 or R3) then no soldering is required, just a small piece of double sided tape. I wanted to reprogram L3 and R3 so I soldered 3 of the correct points. If you are looking for a four button remote control, modifying your PS4 remote control is a risky but rewarding way to get a quality product. I had another branded remote that rhymes with Cuff. and I can tell you that while they look good, they are very expensive and short-lived. I wish I had known that before making this purchase. I bought an original DS4 remote with a light bar on the touchpad in an open box for $35. I didn't want to buy it new just in case I screwed up. One last thing, make sure you have a DS4 lightbar remote and also open it up and make sure you have JDM055 or 050. Not sure if 040 will work as it's not for me. But it could be user error.
