I received this cable a few weeks ago and it looks like it's already broken. I have 1 external monitor and the HDMI port is used by my home computer. For the past year, I've been using the monitor's VGA port with my work computer (Dell laptop) with no problems. But I got a new job and now I'm using a MacBook Pro that doesn't have video ports. I have a Mac compatible hub and bought this cable so I don't have to constantly unplug and plug an HDMI cable. The hub has an HDMI end of the cable and the VGA end connects to the monitor's VGA port. The cable worked fine for a few weeks but stopped working yesterday morning. I unplugged the cable, plugged it back in, turned the monitor off and on again, but nothing worked: the monitor seemed to be on and receiving a signal, but it was a black screen. I connected an HDMI cable from my home computer to the MacBook hub and the image appeared immediately. This means the laptop and monitor connections are fine. The VGA port on the monitor should also be fine as my previous laptop was connected to this port for over a year. I returned this item for an exchange: If the new cable doesn't work, the issue is with the VGA connector. on my monitor. But if the new cable works, then the problem was with the cable.
