I bought this for my teenage daughter. She didn't have a good way of protecting her phone while driving, and our state recently passed a "hands-free" law. Since she's using a case on her iPhone X, it looked like the ticket. Just install the base on the dashboard. Then just attach one of the thin metal plates to the inside of the case. I thought it might take up enough space that the case wouldn't fit, but it turned out it didn't and it wasn't a problem. You really can't tell it's there when you put it in. Then you just have to put your phone on the holder when you get in the car and take it off when you get out. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because I'm still a bit nervous about how it attaches to the dash and not sure if it will leave any marks when we eventually remove it. I'm sure a little chewing gum will help. If and when we remove it, I'll update this review with the results. Other than that, it's a nice and compact mount to keep your phone safe while driving!
