I ordered this item as a base for Atlas Sound GN-19E - Gooseneck Mic Mount - Ebony Mic Stand for use with my laptop DJ rig. Instead of mounting it on a stationary object like a desk or desk, I took a sheet of 1/4" thick fiberboard, some shiny aluminum contact paper and cut out a custom base. I covered it with contact paper, then drilled holes and used a couple of 10's /32 flush screws with lock washers and nuts to attach the base to the fiberboard It looks great and works very well Microphone stand on a flexible stand that takes up almost no space on your desk.
