I use it when I can't remove hairballs from an adult cat right away. I haven't tried it with other types of stains but it works on all pet stains I have. For superficial stains that I encounter right away, I use BISSELL Pet Stain and Odor. Both work very well with my pet SpotBot. I have brand new carpet and have no stains due to this amazing machine and grout even with 3 cats (2 adults and 1 adult). I'll also add that I don't throw away leftovers right away when I'm using it to remove stains. I just leave it on and use it next time, whether it's a stubborn stain or a superficial stain. I've had a SpotBot Pet for 7 months and have had to use this solution multiple times with no problems.
