I bought one for a couple of weeks.

I bought one because it takes several weeks to send for service. Same touchpad defect as everyone else. The second original controller showed the same problem but was out of warranty. Now Revain behaves poorly even with early signs of touchpad failure. I won't buy any other.

Pros
  • Beautiful packaging
Cons
  • Sad packaging

Terrible controllers

The HTC Vive is amazing, which is why it's so weird that they have such crappy controllers. I tried three controllers and they all had the same issue (the trackpad stops clicking on the right side, making some games unplayable). I took one of the controllers apart to fix it and you can tell it was made very cheaply (even though it cost $130). I love my Vive but can't wait for a third party to make a decent controller.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Very expensive

BROKEN on the right side of the trackpad.

problem with controllers and pressing the right side of the trackpad. This controller will fail after a short period of time due to this problem and you will need to send it in for repair. They tell me 5-6 weeks to fix the controller, totally unacceptable for marriage. In addition, the customer must pay or pay for shipping the product to HTC related to a manufacturing defect. Terrible customer service and processing time.

Pros
  • shines
Cons
  • almost everything is ok

RIGHT CLICK WILL BREAK OUT IN A DAY

Controllers have a known bug where right-clicking on the trackpad breaks after a while. HTC still ships controllers with this defect. I exchanged such a controller here and was pissed off: AFTER ONE DAY OF USE IT WAS BROKEN. I played Thumper maybe 2-3 hours? This thing costs $130 and took me less than 24 hours. Absolutely ridiculous. My understanding is that the controllers should be recalled and a proper replacement issued. Getting a replacement because I really don't have much of a choice ifโ€ฆ

They're just not very strong

After purchasing a new HTC Vive system in November, one of the controllers started to fail after about three months. The haptic feedback motor stopped working and the right side of the touchpad barely worked anymore. I sent it to HTC under warranty (had to pay for shipping one way). I bought a new controller so I can keep using the Vive and have an extra one in case the other one stops working. It took TWO MONTHS to get the old controller back! During this time, the touchpad on the otherโ€ฆ

Doesn't work - VR

We bought this replacement controller because one of the original controllers that came with our Vive system broke and the customer service sucks. We wanted to be able to at least play this thing while waiting for their support team to work out any issues with us. Well, very bad! Not only is the customer support a constant distraction, the replacement controller doesn't work either! The controller connects to the system but doesn't monitor, so there's no way to play. For such an expensiveโ€ฆ

Inconsistent great device

I like the Vive but the replacement controller I bought after I broke mine (you know how TV+Fist works) only lasted about a week before it started creaking like a haunted house when I pulled on it. Deduction. That really spoils the impression. I was trying to fix the broken one because it just went into debug mode and all it really took (barring sensor issues) was pulling down on the button that slid into the case. However, after I bought Torx screws to open, I immediately stripped the screwsโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Positive only
Cons
  • Can damage

Serious design flaw. I've tried several controllers and at the moment I only have one that works stably. AFTER I restored it. Vive really needs to fix a number of issues related to tracking sensors and buttons. While they are comfortable to hold and the design concept is very user-friendly, the cons far outweigh the disadvantages for the time being. When I finally sent back the last controller I bought, I noticed that NOBODY had any controllers available at the moment. Hopefully this means that

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Price that beats the piggy bank
