I used to have a 40w and a 7.5w bedside lamp with multiple bulbs that I gave up when moving across country. . When I got a new bedside lamp in my new house, I really missed the dim lamp when I was reading a book or just wanted the dim lamp to light up the room in the dark. A few months later I bought these. And I certainly won't miss my old lamp anymore. I can't imagine not having this in my lamp anymore. It was easy to install, very easy to make sure it was plugged in properly no worries. It went right where my lamp's old socket was. Now I can adjust the brightness as I like, it has better adjustment range than my phone or tablet. And with a warm white lightbulb, I can read a paper book while relaxing without experiencing the blue effect of LED screens that disrupts my sleep (and yes, even with the iPad's night mode setting, it's still not that good). Also, I can turn it on at a muted level so I don't wake my wife up while I get up to see what trouble the cat is causing. :D
