I can't comment on the absorbency of this mat as miraculously my 3.5 year old has stayed dry every night since we started using it. When we used to try to stop doing pull ups, he would just pee all over the bed. Something about putting that cool green blanket on his bed must have made him click something. It gave him the confidence to try sleeping in his underpants again and I think the other sleeping surface served as a subtle reminder to hold back peeing. I'm not saying this product will be a wonderful potty training solution for your family. Babies are weird and I might as well see another kid pissing with this thing more. But for my odd child, it was well spent.
