Well, we're confused. Every time the door was opened, our cat would rush to the door. We tried many methods to keep them indoors. We've put water guns on every door and built possible barricades to stop them. But nothing was effective. I bought the one below this one which only had a beep and vibration and had no effect. The vibration only makes it roll on the floor, but it doesn't stop it from getting out. We also have 5 children and the eldest is 10. We live in a country where owls and coyotes live so keeping them at home really saved her life. We had two more cats to come. To be honest it was our last hope. Well, that collar worked wonders. We only had to use the shock option ONCE and the results were almost instantaneous. She doesn't run out the door at all. In fact, we can easily leave the door open for several hours. She's walked out the door a few times and now all we have to do is vibrate the collar and she rushes back into the house. I'm glad it worked so well. We only put a collar on when the kids are home and there's a good chance she'll run out the door. Honestly I think that in a month we will not need a collar at all and the behaviors associated with being indoors will be blocked. This also saves my cats life. THANK YOU SO MUCH! PS I had to change the collar to fit. She has no problem with it around her neck and feels completely comfortable with it. It doesn't fit the weight parameters, but to be honest we used the swipe function once and that was all we needed. I would be VERY careful not to shock a smaller pet. I only did it because it was a matter of life and death for our cat. We no longer use the shock function.
