I really like the preheat option on the controller. Heating is very even. The only thing the seller doesn't show or tell you is the plug on the pillow itself. The instructions say to lay the rug on the bed label side up and then plug in the cord as shown in the picture of my own bed. Hmmm . the plug is a few centimeters above the edge of the top of the platform; right where my feet are when I go to bed. Because of this feature, I put my regular pad on top of the heated pad, but it doesn't help much. My knuckles have hit the hard surface of this thing more than once (slow learning curve I guess) and it actually hurts. I think my problem is compounded by the fact that I sleep in a single bed and there isn't much room to avoid the plug. So maybe this rug is better suited for a person with a double, queen or king size bed to have more leg room to avoid a very awkward and uncomfortable tucked in position.
