Review on πŸ”§ Enhanced Motorcraft EV267 Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve by Hector Watkins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Don't skimp on your PCV valve, get OEM Motorcraft.

Yes, you could probably save a few bucks (or not if you buy from a chain auto parts store) by buying a replacement PCV valve, but don't do it, just do it Not! The valve (the positive crankcase ventilation valve) plays a very important role in your engine and its lifespan. In internal combustion engines, internal pressure is created by reciprocating pistons, the PCV valve controls this by constantly opening and closing a small ball poppet valve, which allows pressure to escape and be drawn into the intake manifold where it is burned. If your valve is old and dirty, the ball will not open and close. If it's stuck open, you can start sucking oil out of your engine through oily air, which in turn will quickly destroy your engine if the level gets too low and you can't check the level. If it sticks closed the pressure in your crankcase will get too high and you will usually damage the gasket, oil pan or valve cover and then you have a nasty oil leak. Make sure you select the correct PCV for your model/year. This part will fit 2005 thru 2008 Ford 3.0L V-6 Duratec engines which are sure to be found in The Escape/Mariner and I'm sure some others. This PCV is installed in the rear (right) valve cover on the driver's side.
