A good monitor for its price range, with a few annoying flaws

I would love it if there weren't a few flaws that severely hamper its usefulness, at least for me. Pros: Attractive stand with heavy glass construction for a round base. The heavy glass base provides an extremely stable base so the display won't wobble or vibrate when you're typing or bumping into your desk/desktop. Overall it is very thin which gives it a sleek look. The flat, slim appearance is further enhanced by a flat, uniformly wide bezel that sits just a millimeter or two above the display bezel itself. Excellent contrast, good color match, no backlight glare or noticeable color shifts on the display. Beautiful matte finish that reduces glare. Cons: No HDMI input. The only input options on the display are DVI and RGB. With today's proliferation of computers, game consoles and other devices with HDMI output, this seems like an odd omission. ViewSonic comes with an HDMI to DVI cable for connecting to devices with an HDMI port. However, this is a relatively short cable. The stand is not adjustable in any way other than a slight forward/backward tilt. There is no vertical adjustment or rotation. Unfortunately, there are no VESA mounting holes. So you get stuck with the limited adjustment options of the stand. If you need to raise the display, you need to put it on a stand, books, or rocks. Speaking of bricks, the power cord has a built-in power supply/socket. No doubt this has helped make the display so remarkably thin. Unfortunately, this also brings with it some problems and inconveniences. The power cord and wall mount are one piece and it is a short cord (about 5 feet long). So if you don't have an outlet near the display, you'll need to use an extension cord. In my case, the cord isn't long enough to reach from the countertop to the outlet on the floor. A wall wart/brick is most likely blocking an outlet on a power strip, surge protector, or wall outlet (wherever you plug it). Verdict: Overall image quality compares well to other ViewSonic monitors we've bought. and the aesthetics are a notable advance. However, the lack of HDMI, VESA mounting holes and power supply means we won't be buying it again.
