Review on Brother QL-1100 Professional Thermal Label Printer: Wide Format, Postage, and Barcode Capabilities (Black) by Porfirio Newitt

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I've lived without him for 15 years. Why?

I've always loved Brother products, especially since their 5340D black and white printer I bought here at Revain in 2009 is still running! It doesn't disappoint! It's not plug and play (always read the instructions first! LOL). Here are a few things I learned to help someone else do it for the first time. I had paper feeding issues, this was my first label. When you open the top and insert the paper roll you will see a white sticker on the right side with a yellow triangle with 2 gears printed on the rectangular plastic part. You must pass paper underneath! I had this and when I tried to print it didn't work. Hope this helps someone! Another problem I ran into was which things to download (step #3 below). The manual lists a website where you can go to install.brother and do the following: Step 1. Product Categories, click Compact Label Printer. Step 2: Choose your operating system and version (64-bit etc.) Step 3: This is where I got confused. This page has (4 options: a. Software/Document Installer b. Driver c. Editor Tool d. Firmware). All you have to do is download the first one. Software/Document Installer. This will install all 4 partitions for you (a, b, c, d) at once. The only scenarios where you will need others is if something goes wrong and you are prompted to reinstall the drivers, then download b. drivers only. If the software does not work properly, you can reinstall c. editor tool. I'm sure most people won't have any problems as I solved my own minor issues in no time. The text is crisp, I love that it cuts labels for you. It comes with labels to start with, 2 different sizes. I bought these labels (haven't tried them yet) which are about 16 cents per label: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07X5883GY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I'm so glad I have bought that. saves me so much time printing it out, cutting out the label and then sticking it on for my little craft business!
