Review on πŸ’‘ Enhance Your Efficiency with Memorex 02696 4GB Digital Voice Recorder! by Brandon Pratt

Slow startup speed, buggy buttons

I use a voice recorder to record audio books on long trips. I usually use the Olympus VN-541PC (which I give five stars). My Olympus ran out of memory this morning and had three hours left. I stayed with Rite Aid and got a Memorex recorder which is a much inferior product. The Memorex recorder will turn itself off after 30 seconds of inactivity. Here's the problem: after turning it on, it takes about 10 seconds to "boot" before you can start recording. If I was using it to record a long interview, it wouldn't matter much. However, if you're using it to take a bunch of quick notes, waiting for a "loading" period is very annoying. Also, the start/stop recording button is buggy. Sometimes when I press the button to stop recording, the voice recorder just keeps working. Stops after three or four clicks. Overall I am very dissatisfied with Memorex compared to the Olympus version. Olympus starts recording the moment you flip the switch, with no loading times and no weird glitches. Recording on it offers a much smoother experience. And they're about the same price.

Pros
  • Digital Voice Recorders
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
