Technically, this is a great monitor. Resolution, clarity and response are great, and everything runs smoothly (on VGA) with multiple laptops. The ability to rotate the monitor 90 degrees to portrait is great for working with documents, although you'll have to manually adjust the graphical properties in Windows (it would be cool if it automatically detected its orientation). But there are 2 things that prevent it from getting more stars. First a little thing. There is no HDMI connection here, instead there is a DisplayPort connection. I don't know anything about DisplayPort, except that I had to buy a $20 DP/HDMI adapter to plug it into my laptop's HDMI port. And it still doesn't work. Maybe the adapter is the problem - I still haven't figured it out, but my problem is that there is no HDMI port at all. So I use a VGA connection instead, which is great for what I use it for, but I'd probably be pissed if I needed HDMI performance for gaming or movies.2. Show stoppers now. As MANY other reviewers have pointed out, this monitor has a very thick anti-glare coating that darkens the colors and makes the display look grainy. It might not bother me if I'm not staring at him 8 hours a day, but I do and it's annoying. I assumed all the other people who mentioned it were too picky, but that's not the case. This is very noticeable, especially when the uncoated monitor is placed next to another (like mine). There are videos with instructions on how to remove the coating, but (a) this will void your warranty, (b) it will take several hours, and (c) there is a good chance you will damage the coating in the process. If you replace a monitor with this coating, you'll probably rejoice like a clam because there won't be any difference, but if you're used to a glossy finish, it will stick out like a thumb.
