My rods are threaded so I left out the tapered aluminum tips. I took them out of the box and the mirrors have a blue tint which was unexpected, also the glass fell out of both when I took them out of the box. So be sure to stick double-sided tape on the glass if you can handle the blue tint and be sure to tighten all screws when installing. I'll probably seal all the bolts with blue Loctite because I've had other cheap side mirrors that have fallen off due to the bolts loosening while driving.
