This product was purchased to replace several other air pumps we have. We used two different battery powered pumps and one that was powered by the car's cigarette lighter socket. We fully charged this device (left on charger for about 14 hours) a few days before our weekend trip, took the car charger with us (although we never needed it). When we got to the place and installed the air mattresses (two kid mattresses and one queen mattress) we pulled out the pump and used it on the queen mattress first. It took less than 5 minutes to fully inflate a queen-size mattress and about 2 minutes to fully inflate both children's mattresses. After the first night, one of the children decided not to sleep on his mattress and so used a pump to deflate the mattress. She pumped out all the air so well that the mattress folded perfectly flat. Used the pump again when it was time to pack up to deflate another child mattress and one queen mattress with no problems. I never had to connect the pump to the charger, it inflated and deflated all mattresses quickly and efficiently. With older pumps (even with a car charger), the mattresses took much longer to inflate and deflate. I am very happy with this purchase. The only downside I've found/seen is that the instructions say not to plug the pump into the car charger while the car is in motion. For me this means that you have to wait 8 hours after arriving at the campsite to be able to use the charger. or make sure it's charged before you get there.
