I bought this to cover a 2" x 3" bandage on my forehead (after skin cancer removal and plastic surgery). I figured people at work would ask for the bandage every time someone saw me for the first time, so I figured it would be a good way to avoid that. It worked - everyone thinks I'm either a biker or a pirate or a religious lunatic - but only one person asked for it. This hat is well made and stretches well (I'm a man and I'm a size plus, but the smaller size might be a different story). I only give it 4 stars because its packaging was just a plastic bag. Supplement with care instructions. So I don't know if it can be machine washed or hand washed. I chose the latter but don't know what kind of soap to use so I'll use some baking soda to avoid chemicals that could be harmful. For $17, the manufacturer should be able to include a small piece of paper.
