Review on Air King 9166F Whole Window by Leticia Wilhelmsen

The simple fact is that the Air King 20" Whole Home Window Fan has gotten progressively worse over the past 30+ years - that's how long I've been using them. My uncle gave me a used one that he stopped using in the early 1980's. It worked great for another 15 years - with very quiet and smooth operation. When it finally broke in the mid/late 1990's I bought another 20" Air King and it worked great again - running very quietly with no vibration. About 15 years later one hot summer my son bought an old big house without one I gave him my Air King 20" for quick relief and then bought another one around 2014. I put it by the window, turned it on and couldn't believe how badly it worked. In particular, a large amount of vibration and noise, which is constantly getting worse. Basically I only use low to medium speeds - the high speed vibration from unbalanced blades is too loud and disturbs us and probably neighbors. From time to time when I'm with my son I'll just turn on his 20" Air King (the old one I gave him) just to see how good the Air King product was - smooth as silk. His fan is much older than mine but works better and will probably last longer than my 'new one.' They used to cost about $100 more (about $250 from what I remember) but I was willing to buy more every day Paying for a product with good quality and performance. I don't know what I'll do when the 'new' blows through. I'm always looking for good company. The idea of a fan for the whole house is a great one Idea: We often don't have to turn on the central air conditioning and save money, so there is a market for it, but for a quality product!
