Worst Headphones Ever

I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong with these headphones but I can't get them to stay in my ears for more than a minute. I've tried all three sizes of ear tips (I've always taken the standard with other earbuds) and tried twisting them in different directions. I put the cord on the back and front, it didn't look or feel natural. They don't even stay home when I do the helix, which is a very low-motion elliptical machine. I looked at the instructions to see how they should be worn, but the instructions only explain how to use the controls. The only headphones that used to be such a bad fit were the Apple headphones that came standard with older Apple phones (not sure if they've changed in recent years). Even with headphones in my ears, the sound is worse than any headphones I've ever used. Inexpensive disposable headphones in the dental practice fit and sound better. Reminds me of my family's old Chevette with the tin speakers that came with the standard AM/FM radio. In other words, ridiculously bad sound. I also don't like how the controls are dangling off the side of my head when I'm wearing headphones. It looks weird and uncomfortable. Everything about these headphones is terribly bad. Maxell usually has good products so I gave them two stars instead of one just so they wouldn't doubt it's user error. But I can't figure out what I could be doing wrong.
