Cute but not soft in stationery and gift box

They will definitely work as designed and look cute and cozy our salon tree. But the fabric feels like very cheap pillowcases - spiky and rough. No matter how gift wrapping. I thought of washing them and trying to soften them before giving them to friends as gifts. But then I would have to iron them. And in 2020 I don't like everything. So they're cute, they work, they're just not as soft as they look.
