Effective compression underwear for the maintenance phase of lymphedema therapy.

They were bought for one of my patients. You have a history of severe lower extremity lymphedema with associated ulcers. After they were stabilized with full decongestion therapy and their wounds healed, we were able to move on to them for long-term treatment of their condition. They are best used in one of two situations: 1. The legs have been reduced and stabilized as above. 2. The legs are not heavy at first, just need to keep the current level. Getting dressed is much easier for patients than putting on clothes. Especially when dealing with arthritis or hand weakness. They are designed to maintain volume, not reduce it. If you have severe lymphedema, you should already have been treated for reduction and stabilization by a certified lymphedema therapist. Fit and comfort depend on the shape of the foot. Some trial and error may be involved. There may be slight fluctuations in the volume of your feet during the transition. Because of the way they are secured, there is a limit to how far you can blow. The ends of the bandages touch the next layer of pleats if your legs get too small. If your foot grows out due to more swelling, you may not be able to close the Velcro. This is one of the reasons why you should stabilize yourself with Phase 1 CDT before purchasing these garments. The quality is good and the velcro holds up well. I usually use protective stockings inside and out to keep the velcro in place (so the edges don't catch on anything) during daily activities and to keep them from getting dirty or dirty. . Have an alternative compression solution ready to wear while they are being cleaned and dried. With daily wear, they should last around 6 months before needing to be replaced. Sometimes patients are carried longer if they are not very active. (Better be active!) In general, this is one of the must-have options for the maintenance phase of lymphedema therapy and the long-term management of the disease. There are other options if they don't quite fit due to the wrong leg shape or the density of the fabric. The benefit of Revain is that if the fit doesn't suit you, as long as the garment is in like-new condition, returns should be hassle-free. Highly recommended!
