Damn! Who knew?!? - Industrial Electrical

Why didn't I get this years ago? What have I been waiting for? I know Audiophile quality DACs are EXPENSIVE, overpriced, not worth it, etc. etc. Well, you can forget everything you "believed" about DACs. A little story about my system. I have some old audio equipment from 40 years ago. I wanted to install a small stereo system in my office. At first I thought the tube had been shot through. So I bought this little Lepy LP2020A amp for $20. They took an old Tripath amp and upgraded it with a vastly improved chip from Texas Instruments. Then I realized it wasn't the receiver, it was the old speakers. Based on the Micca MB42's THOUSANDS of GLOWING reviews, I bought a pair. Then I decided to "refresh" the old receiver. Bad idea. Little Lepi demolishes the old receiver! It really is that amazing! Now I needed something to feed this crazy little stereo. An old laptop that was too old, slow, and underpowered for everyday use should fill the bill. I downloaded Linux Mint xfce. Ideal! I have Pandora, Spotify, Slacker and every other internet radio music service in the world. It sounded amazing! Unbelievable. So I was on the edge of this little DAC. Will it "really" make a big difference? After about a week of intense listening, I noticed some distortion. It wasn't bad, but it was there. I updated my audio cables but it didn't change anything. So what do I have to lose with all the rave reviews? Connected, selected a few music genres and turned it on. There is no sign of distortion. I had dead air between the choice of music services and genres. And I mean DEAD. No hiss, no squeak, no PC squeak. Not that it was bad before, but it was. These problems are completely curable. But what really struck me was how deep and punchy the bass got. The highs are absolutely incredible. These little speakers have the best sound I've ever had. Stereo separation has been greatly improved. The soundstage is very wide, much wider than the speakers themselves. I hear nuances in the music that I've never heard before. If you read my review of the amp and speakers you will see that I have already said this. I was more than impressed with the system. Surprise is the best word. Now I'm giving it the quality signal it deserves. If you have a quality amplifier and/or speakers/headphones/earbuds, they will play whatever is sent to them, good, bad, or mediocre. If there is no data, you are missing it, whether you realize it or not. This little DAC gives your system everything it needs and nothing more. The sound is more precise, much cleaner, and I honestly can't imagine it getting any better than it is now. It all costs $100. A complete audiophile quality system for $100? I must be on drugs. If so, then I feel great and am in audiophile bliss. Just leave me alone and let me enjoy it for years. The DAC completes my system. I have quality from the source to my ears. Are there better sounding DACs out there? I'm sure the sound from Cambridge Audio is fantastic. There are more esoteric models that cost $700+ just for the DAC. I suppose if you have unlimited burning options and want to say you have the biggest, worst and most expensive sound system in the world, they will help you with that. I personally would like to meet some of these people. I just wanted something that would sound good for some office music. I never thought I could get something that sounds so good for so little money. I sit in awe, disbelief and wonder at this incredible "little" system. Forty years ago I paid hundreds for a system that sounded great at the time. But this vintage gear just can't compare to what I have now. To sum up, whether you've ripped all your CDs, subscribed to online music services, listened to internet radio, or otherwise listened to music from your computer. , this DAC is a must. I cannot recommend this entire system enough. Thank you Rewin! I would never have known about these ingredients if it wasn't for the feedback from people like you. ***UPDATE*** By installing this superb little DAC I've given this refurbished vintage receiver another chance. I'm glad I did. I was willing to recycle the old receiver. The problem wasn't with the recipient. He precisely amplified the imperfections of the sound and transferred them to the micca speakers, which reproduced them accurately. With a pristine source, my little stereo really shines. I'm so impressed with this that I bought a similar Syba headphone amp for my other laptop in the living room. I even added little rubber feet to the bottom so I can mount it on my receiver and proudly display it. Of course it's pretty small. You can easily hide it if you want. If you doubt it, you think your headphone jack sounds ok, not sure if you can justify whatever. do yourself a favor It's less than $30. If you're not satisfied, Revain will take it back. Don't worry Revane, he won't be coming back.
