Review on ZENOVA Multi-Function Power Tower Pull Up Bar Station Workout Dip Station With J Hook Home Strength Training Fitness Equipment by Jamal Yang

It serves the purpose, but consider splurging if you can

First, let's get the obvious out of the way: this is an inexpensive, entry-level version of a power tower. The reality is that if you want a quality piece of equipment on which to do your dips, leg raises and pull-ups, you should be budgeting closer to $1000 and perhaps even over that amount. In my case, when I was shopping for a power tower I did not fully appreciate this, plus I was working with some specific constraints (outside of the budget, a basement ceiling that puts a hard limit on the height of any gym equipment I put down there) and one very specific desire (a particular arrangement of handles for the pull-ups) that led me to this product. And this product is perfectly fine for doing dips, leg raises and pull-ups. It might even be fine for all of the other things pictured in the illustrations. But it has some drawbacks. Assembly wasn't truly difficult, but I wouldn't call it easy, either. Post-assembly, on a perfectly level concrete basement slab, it wobbles a little bit. It's possible that someone with better engineering skills could tweak the assembly to remove the wobble, but I have a few other pieces of equipment in that basement and they don't wobble at all. Regardless, it doesn't have that solid, unshakeable feel that you get from the power towers at your local gym. The solid support inside the back pad, whatever it might be made of, snapped after a few weeks of leg raises; it's still functional, but bends noticeably when I lean against it now. This is annoying, but somehow more comfortable than it was before I broke it.So, while this unit is certainly still functional after nearly two years, if I had the chance to revisit this purchase, I'd spring for a better version - ones I have my eye on now go for 3-4X the price of this. But for a budget power tower, it works.

Pros
  • Awesome pull up station! And don't like a tank.
Cons
  • The price range is too high for what it offers
