I've had two of these and they both had the same problem. If you leave AAA batteries in the receiver (the device connected to the camera) they will eventually run out and die. Even if you switch off the receiver, the batteries will be discharged. That doesn't happen with a broadcaster. I turn it off and leave the batteries in, and I've never changed the batteries in the transmitter. Yes, it's cheap plastic and there are several companies selling the exact same devices with their own logo. It's a one-stop production unit that anyone can buy and have their logo printed on (if you're buying in bulk). But that's how things are now. And if it has fresh batteries, both the transmitter and receiver will work properly. I've never tested the range, but it works for the ranges I use (usually no more than 100 feet). I cannot assume any liability for the additional functions, as I only use them as a remote trigger. Result. The electronics are of poor quality so remove the batteries when not in use.
