Poor connection

At first I was happy with my purchase, but now I've found that the adapter didn't fit properly into my laptop's USB port. In addition, the other part of the adapter is also released. If the slightest thing touches it, my external drive will spin down and I'll have to go through the mount process all over again. Both are too shaky to keep in touch. I'm looking for the best.
