I loved this DVD player from the start. It was inexpensive and I thought the picture quality was pretty good and I liked the remote control interface. However, I found the sound lacking. The volume changes randomly and repeatedly throughout playback of the disc, from normal to fairly loud to completely inaudible. This is something that when watching a DVD is just unbearable, it can even drive you insane. Also, after pausing a disc and returning to "Play" mode, the audio is often out of sync with the video, which is very annoying. As much as I'd love to find a great product, these issues are significant and as such the DVD player is worthless, hence the one star rating. **UPDATE** The company has contacted me and is replacing the defective device. I am revising my assessment in good faith. The excellent customer service is to be commended.
