No, the elasticity is nothing more than a T-shirt. No elastic. My face is probably smaller but it's not big on my face. The loops sit absolutely tension-free on my ears, but don't slip either. I can turn the bottom of the loops up so it fits snugly against my ear, but it's still pretty functional. It has an unusual profile, just like an ax blade! This creates more space around the mouth. I don't need it, but others might like it. Maybe that's why it sits so well without a rubber or metal nose pad. I am claustrophobic and have very sensitive skin so the masks were a real challenge. This mask will be a lifesaver for me (yes, it seems quite thick, but not suffocating. It looks like it would be suitable for tie dyeing, although I seriously doubt it's sewn with cotton thread, by no means Pick up color.
