Out of the box it's fluffed up beautifully. I really liked the packaging itself. There was even a box opener which I thought was really nice. For easy removal of the plastic. I left it fluffed overnight - but like I said, it was quick, probably full fluff was achieved within an hour, tbh. My mattress was getting old and I took it in hopes of prolonging its life. It is both hard and soft. ideal
