I was very afraid to write this review. I bought the Nikon S9100 with high hopes; The reviews have been good and I really wish this one was "the one". I tried several cameras before this one; They all suffered from weaknesses and other problems that they could not live with. At first everything seemed to work - the white balance and exposure looked very accurate and the camera was easy to use. Photos looked good on the 3 inch screen, corner sharpness wasn't perfect but at least not as bad as the horrible Fuji F505/550 EXR. BUT. They have a 24 inch monitor - all xp@n. There is no other word for it - I lost a few days of footage, about 400 photos - almost nothing was good. The focus was behind or in front of the subject; had to check when IS was on because even with good outdoor lighting, everything was blurry. The stupid camera set ISO 1600 for almost everything and chose a shutter speed like 1/10 which it obviously couldn't handle. The noise reduction was so strong that I couldn't see a strand of hair; all looked like they were wearing plastic helmets like Lego figures. Panorama mode was poorly implemented, most had significant artifacts (e.g. bugs). Videos were bad, IS was ineffective at all focal lengths. Overall, a very disappointing camera. I had high expectations based on the reviews on DPReview and Snapsort, but I just can't compare the very poor photos I've seen to their good reviews. I returned the Nikon and took the Panasonic; Difference night and day I recommend in look elsewhere.
