Accurate, large readings with backlight

This scale replaced other 20 year old German scales with early load cells. It still worked and was in almost daily use exactly after 20 years, but the rubber feet were crumbling and it seemed like the time had come. Beurer has definitely gotten better. It reads up to 0.2 pounds and reads exactly the same as the old one but has much larger and backlit digits - the old non-lit LCD was less than half the size. Also, the old man had to stand up briefly each time to wake up and reset the readings, and then stand up again to weigh himself. Resetting the Beurer is only necessary after moving house or from time to time for checks. Just climb in, the light comes on and in a few seconds you have a reading. Ideal! Like the old scales, the Beurer can be set to pounds, kilograms or stones. In one small respect, the old scales were better: they accurately weighed a small load of laundry weighing 4-6 pounds; this one doesn't wake up under clear loads, but I can live with that :-). The old scale ran on six (6) AA batteries that lasted over a year. Beurer uses two (2) AAA batteries, which I assume will need to be replaced a little more often, but it's simple enough. I tried other scales but it was hopeless. It had a small deck that needed balancing, and to make matters worse, it used two button batteries that had to be replaced every few weeks - not good. I'm very happy with this product, but if other scales suit you, just make sure they use load cell technology and don't rely on button batteries!
