This is a matter of mechanics, but there is no definitive action that must be taken before the button can be activated. The button only needs a little press in order to start working, and it appeared like you didn't press it at all, yet it still worked. The software is unfinished, and the testing did not go according to plan. The backlight is reflected in the monitor, and the LEDs just stand out on the reverse side. Because they are not recessed into the keyboard casing, the LEDs are perfectly reflected in the monitor. A waste of money, but I'll go with the standard mechanics.
