I bought this specifically for cycling and used it as a base for my tent for 3 days hiking in cold and rainy weather. This prevented groundwater from seeping into the tent and I felt warmer in the tent than without the groundsheet. The extremely thin mylar was strong enough to last 3 nights and folded with my tent, but finally ripped last night. If I had to go outside again I would take 2, one to cover the earth and the other to wrap around me. One night the temperature dropped lower than I expected and I would feel warm using it as a real blanket!
