I hesitated to buy these as they are wood handled, wood and washing, uggh. I wanted more like the plastic handled one that my family fights over and is so easy to clean. The price of these made it easier to get, thinking if I didn't care for them after using them for a bit, I'd just throw them away. Well I still don't like the wood handles, The wood is unsealed, so we have made it a policy that they don't get placed in water to soak. Hand washed they get little water on the handles during wash up. I have treated them with mineral oil, much like a wooden cutting board, I'll see if they last. I will say one really good thing about them. They are sharp, on one side, a serrated edge that cuts meat quickly and cleanly. Will they stay sharp? I don't know, but I have only four out for use now, keeping the other four untouched until they are needed.
