Review on Francis 300 CB25B Black 4 5 Antenna by Ashley Gauthier

Revainrating 5 out of 5

These antennas seem to hold up well and work well too.

Revised/Revised: 1-29-2017/ A. Excellent CB and 10m antenna Has wide frequency range - covers CB up to 10m when tuned (Cut*#). It is recommended to use a short spring. Make sure the spring used has a braid in the @ spring, otherwise SWR will be an issue (if you're driving - in a parking lot it might be fine). Maybe it can be used without the spring if anything it touches is in the top 2/3 - 3/4 of the antenna.------------------- - --- ---------------------------- ------------------ Notes :* Antenna likely covers 26.8-28.3MHz.@ It has become common for companies to leave the required braid in the pen. This results in a large change in SWR as the spring flexes. # Cut and Set: CB, no spring. - Use a hacksaw. DO NOT use wire cutters outdoors. Cut off the tip of the antenna at the perimeter. Don't cut more than 1/4 inch at a time. Replace the red cap with EVERY SWR measurement. For a short feather, expect to cut off 1/2 inch. When finished, use the RTV silicone to permanently seal the cap. HAM, no spring. Use a hacksaw. DO NOT use wire cutters outdoors. Cut the antenna around. -- Cut off 1 inch (about 1 inch per MHz) to get 28.5MHz, -- Don't cut off more than 1/4 inch at a time after reaching 28.0MHz. -- Replace the red cap on EVERY SWR test. For a short feather, expect to cut off 2 inches. When you're done, use the RTV silicone to permanently seal the lid. In my application I used a Hustler ball mount and spring. This increases the length of the antenna. I found it to oscillate at around 26.0MHz. I cut off 2.5 inches to get 28.5MHz. The bad news is that the resonant SWR was around 1.6 SWR since it wasn't a flat 1.1 SWR.
