I used this to consolidate backups from all my devices and restore them to my latest laptop with a wonderful USB-C 3.1. the move went smoothly. I put it aside for now as the internal nvme drive is just as fast and big enough for now. The problem is that after a few months I want to use it again and it keeps connecting and disconnecting from my computer. In Device Manager it shows up as an expandable 3.1 device and then disappears. maybe it shows up again after 15 seconds and then disappears again after a few seconds. If I connect it with USB C to A cable it works, but I might as well buy a slow USB 3.0 SSD drive if I'm going to use USB-A. I'm not sure what has changed, but the USB-C port doesn't seem to support the device anymore
