The higher magnification combined with the larger diameter and single lens construction results in field distortions that are noticeable away from the central viewing area. The 30x magnification is nothing more than another single lens with 8x to 10x magnification with the same quality and performance as any other single lens magnifier. The benefit here is this; Carry your choice in your pocket, use it often, scrape, scrape, drop, clean the lens with a lick and tail of your shirt, and when it dies it's the loss of a tear.
