I bought a large carrier for my 9 lb cat. It fits perfectly, with enough room to lay down and turn around. Although he squirmed a lot in the car on the way to the vet, the bag held up well enough. Note. A backpack is considered large, but my 15lb cat wouldn't fit in it (she's the size of a bag). Convenient carry handle and shoulder strap included. I love the zippered hand pocket that opens so you can pet your cat with confidence. Great design. However, one of the double zippers on my carrier broke. The seller was very accommodating and refunded my money almost immediately. So happy to find a company that stands behind their products.
