Did the trick on my review.

We drove from upstate New York (almost Canada) to Tampa FL. It rained most of the way. The carrier kept our bags dry and did not budge on the roof of my Subaru Crosstrek. The only thing that kept it from getting 5 stars is that it said suitable for all cars but the Crosstrek comes with only parallel side bars and no way to lash to prevent sliding forward or backward. After much frustration we discovered the 2 tie down points hidden under the car just in front of the front wheels, ran a rope through those and up to the front straps on the carrier in a Y formation from the front of the car. This secured the forward-back motion and then there was no problem. It served its purpose.
