I have read many reviews of other cameras that compete with this camera where the reviewer said better value for money but I don't agree with all of them. I think this is the best setup you can get for under $250. That's pretty much all you need to start capturing basic shots with stability as a key factor and using standard pro gear without breaking the bank. With this setup, you're covered. must be on a tripod, covered, must be carried and moved on the shoulder, must be held with one hand to shoot from below, must be covered, must look good doing all these things, you are probably covered, that looks good plant. The grips are snug, the shoulder pad is comfortable, the mounting base moves up and down freely, the C-clamp is solid and has additional pre-drilled 1/4 threads for additional attachment. Everything about this device in terms of structural integrity is made from high quality aluminum and is beautifully finished. In my opinion, this installation needs further development. Obviously I gave it a 5 because I like it and like the other reviewers I feel I got my money's worth, but there are a few issues I've encountered. Think of the price paid and the quality received. I still think this is a great base setting despite the following issues. It's not a quick install - tightening the screw caps holds the individual pieces very well, but it's not always easy to loosen the screws. for a quick fix. Sometimes I find it better to hit the screws with a rubber mallet to loosen them. My biggest gripe is the tripod mount on my head, which is the Manfrotto MVH502AH. The screw mount for the handle is lower than my tripod mount plate and makes it impossible for the plate to be fully attached to my head, although I can still attach it to my head I just can't move it back far enough to get it to secure the locks. Another thing to keep in mind is that most of the screws are on the bottom and sides of the parts and due to the length of the screws you should give each individual part a bit of buffer space from each other so you can tighten freely , without invading the way. I'm 6'3 and have been told I'm longer than normal arm length. So if you're like me you might find some short side pressure/cramps with this setup, but buy a 15mm bar and re-thread it will feel roomy in no time. This rig doesn't come with a counterweight, so add $30-$40 if you need one. I went with this 2.5lb Flashpoint counterweight for 15mm bars. I use a setup with a Nikon D810 and various lenses from 12mm to 300mm and the setup was a bit happy so I bought this counterweight and everything seems much better balanced now. This is exactly the attitude I noticed. also sold by Moors and Koolerton, however the Sun Smart has a better price tag of around $70. Other things to note, it looks like the barn doors and follower focus are made by another company and packaged in this kit. These parts aren't bad, but they're plastic, and if you're used to real barn doors and a sharp tracking focus, there's a good chance you'll probably end up replacing them at some point. I have attached photos showing how good it looks. Setup (especially the blues) and photos showing the handlebar mount is lower than the tripod head mounting plate which is my biggest issue. Unit is shown with a counterweight but please note this is not included and must be purchased separately. It's great value for what it is and gives you a basic set of professional quality features. I don't think you can buy parts separately and put this rig together for less than you can buy as a kit. If you don't want to overpay for $250, then this is what you need. In fact, I think it beats a lot of $400-$500 sets!
