For the first wash I always choose a balm, not an oil. My favorites are the classic OG K-Beauty, Heimish All Clean, and Banila Co Clean it Zero, but I love trying new ones when I get the chance. Pestle & Mortar Erase is more of a solid cleansing oil than a balm. It is very oily in the glass and turns into an oily liquid when touched with fingertips. In terms of effectiveness, it reliably removes all my makeup, including waterproof mascara. But still, there are a few things I find less attractive. It is filled with sand particles, which gives the impression that the product has somehow deteriorated. It doesn't emulsify well and leaves a greasy sheen on my skin like a thicker cleansing oil. And it smells strongly of lavender. As far as scent goes, that's not a problem for me, but if you don't like essential oils in skincare, you won't like this. It's not terrible, but not something I would use regularly.
