Cheap plastic mechanics/parts break too easily

I would give this unit 5 stars if it weren't for the cheap plastic parts that break and otherwise render the unit almost useless none Workaround found. The manufacturer is aware of this, but has not done anything to solve this problem, hence minus 2 stars. Our workaround is detailed below. The benefit of this system for us was its ability to contain odors. To that end, Lionheart's signature bag attaches to an internal rotating frame in the outer trash shell and rotates the bag to open and close when the pedal is pressed. For this to work, the 2 loops on the bag that are 180 degrees apart at the top of the bag attach to the 2 plastic clips on the inner frame of the spinning rod. When the pedal is pressed, the bag unrolls to allow the waste to be stuffed inside, then rolls back up and seals when the pedal is released. We've only had the device for a week at the moment and this is only the second bag change. , the bag rubbed against one of the plastic latches on the inner frame and came loose. This basically renders the sealing mechanism useless as there is now nothing for the pouch to snap to to hold it in place so it can close. This basic design flaw could easily be remedied by the manufacturer by using aluminum clips to hold the bag instead of two colored plastic clips that would inevitably break. broke again, I just unrolled the paperclip and put it in one of the slots at the top of the frame next to the broken plastic clip and the loop of the bag slides in just like the plastic clip. This workaround is metal so it won't break again, and if the other side breaks - because it does - I just unroll another paperclip and repeat on the other side. Update February 3, 2018 As expected. another plastic clip broke off about a week ago when the trash was being pulled out again. We take extra care after the first one came loose and did a total of 8 bag changes before the other one came loose as well. Not a big average. In the manufacturer's defense, we use it to hold adult diapers, which tend to fill the pouch faster, and don't move like I imagine small baby diapers slipping through the clips and through the opening. The problem is obvious and the solution should be easy, but they haven't done anything to fix it yet, so if you still think it's worth it, you know how to fix it.

Pros
  • Patented twist technology that locks in smells
Cons
  • Out of fashion
