Not really compatible with OS X

I bought this pedal to use with a MacBook as it is listed as compatible with OS X. The intention was to use it with simple software like iTunes. Unfortunately, the ONLY way to use this device on OS X is with specially designed transcription software like ExpressScribe Pro (the free version doesn't work). There is absolutely no way to access it outside of this software on OS X. Things that don't work: * Search the manufacturer's website for a driver for OS X. No success. There are many recommendations for using this utility, but it only applies to Windows.* ControllerMate. The foot pedal does not appear there as a controlled device.* Carabiner. The same as above. The problem, I found, is that this foot pedal does not register itself as a HID input device, unlike all other existing USB input devices (keyboards, mice, trackballs, gamepads, etc.). OS X certainly *sees* it - and lists it in the "USB Devices" section of the system report as an unknown USB device type called "VEC Footswitch" - but has no idea how to contact it. Pressing any of the pedals didn't produce any noticeable response on OS X. Unless you're probably using specially developed software. Conclusion: This device is ONLY "OS X compatible" with certain software packages, that interact with the pedal in a non-standard proprietary protocol. If you need a pedal for other uses - like iTunes - look elsewhere.
