Ok using these as small accessible sandpits in my quail hutch. I drilled a few tiny holes in one (like 100-150 holes) and laid it over the other with no holes, adding about 3 cups of sand. Birds play in the sand and spoil it. Then once a day I lift the top tray and tip the rest into the compost bin and dump the sand into a large plastic bowl, then put the empty trays back in the coop, dump the sand back in and start over. Works great most of the year
