My cat no longer scratches furniture and carpets! The scratching post survived being mauled by my 14 lb cat. She spread it all over the living room. Sometimes she falls asleep on it. Sometimes she attacks him or dives under him. It came with a small bag of catnip to sprinkle over the notebook. I've bought more to add from time to time. The downside is that after my cat's work, it's a mess of paper. If you don't clean it up right away, scraps of paper will haunt you all over the house. However, sweeping is easier and cheaper than upholstering furniture.
