Review on 🐴 Weaver Leather Slow-Feed Hay Bag: Enhancing Equine Nutrition and Enhancing Your Horse's Eating Experience by Amy Hodgson

Durability 0. I really wanted to love this bag! 😭

I've been discussing this bag for a long time trying to figure out which hay bags I like best. Our hay storage is not in the same stable as the horses and we have to carry it every day. This bag is used by several snowboarders and I decided to give it a try as I liked the firmer bottom and the fact that most of the hay doesn't fall out while the bag is being carried or the horse is eating. Easy to load and transport hay. I hang it on a hook and two or so flakes work great. I would give 5 stars for that. For durability, this gets a 0. Less than a month later, maybe 2 uses a week, and the bag appears to have ripped near the top straps/bars. Now the rear bar comes out with every use! For $45 I was expecting longer use. My horse is not destructive at all. She stood about 8 hours a day and often less. The bag has been used maybe 7-8 times as I have other types of hay bags floating around. Net bags are cheap and durable, but the hay will fall out. Spider bags are resilient, but so is the hay that falls down when the horse eats. This is just an old bag that broke my heart and wallet as it is the most expensive to date with no durability. Sad because I wanted to love it and it matches the new halter we bought at the same time.

Pros
  • Slow feeding design encourages slower feed intake to aid digestion
Cons
  • The list will be long.
